Austin Mennonite Church is a small Christian church located in Austin, TX. Our Associate Pastor is a seminary professor interested in the techniques of teaching over the Internet. We are interested in using this service to electronically discuss these techniques. We would also discuss ways to use the Internet to further peace on a global scale. |

Thich Nhat Hanh, who was nominated for a Noble Peace Prize by Martin Luther King Jr., founded Plum Village in the South of France after being exiled from Vietnam. Deer Park Monastery in California and Blue Cliff Monastery in New York uphold his tradition. Now, his teaching and methods of practice are taking root in Mississippi. By using Internet technology (e-mail) the recipients are provided with a spiritual message that is sent primarily to their work place and is read at the start of each day. Cross Links were one of the earliest expressions of Internet Ministry to the work place. They are are provided by CHASSIE - The Church and Social Science Information Exchange (also known as ruralchurch.org) which began in 1990 as a BBS with the goal to connect seminary professors and other teachers of the social sciences with interested laity by means of wider computer communications. |
